What's genuinely hard
- The rolled rr vs. single r (pero/perro). Train it in Speak's minimal pairs
- Noun gender and agreement (el/la, adjective endings)
- Ser vs. estar: two verbs for English's one "to be"
- Native speech is fast; use the Slow playback speeds early on
Tips
- Start with usted (formal). It's always safe; tú comes naturally later
- Spanish spelling is phonetic: once you know the sounds, you can read anything aloud
